Validated Animal Models

Iris Pharma's basic Research Department creates and validates in vivo animal models for the evaluation of the efficacy of ocular drugs.

Recently, the Iris Pharma Research Team has validated several animal research modelsto investigate the various aspects of Age-related Macular Degenerescence (AMD) and retinal degenerescence:

• corneal angiogenesis (suture animal models on rabbits),
• retinopathy of prematurity (ROP, hyperoxia animal models in pup mice),
• chemical burn (alcohol, sodium hydroxyde animal models in rats, mice and rabbits),
• retinal vascular permeability (VEGF-induced leakage) in rabbits (animal testing),
• choroidal neovascularization animal model (CNV) in rats using argon laser.

New Animal Models

Iris Pharma's Research Department never stops exploring; aside neovascularization animal models, different animal models related to diabetic retinopathy research and glaucoma are currently under development.
